Some may mourn at the time of a miscarriage but I cannot. Known to God before the foundation of the world was His sovereign plan to rescue my child from the pains of this world in order to give him the joys of the next. My child is in the presence of eternal joy! If I must shed tears let it be tears of joy for the happiness of the salvation of my child. The apostle John once said: “I have no greater joy than to hear that my children walk in truth.” (3 John 1:4) My joy today is that my child not only walks in truth but is holding the hand of the man of truth: Jesus Christ.
The goal of every godly parent is to see their children walk with Jesus. With a miscarriage you get to see that at the beginning of life instead of the end. I am convinced that miscarriages are the greatest proof of God’s love for children. Who are we to refuse God’s joy in bringing little children to Himself. After all “Jesus said, “Let the little children come to Me, and do not forbid them; for of such is the kingdom of heaven.” (Matt. 19:14) If God’s love for children is so strong that He is willing to bypass the trials and tribulations of this life so that they may enjoy His Kingdom forever, then I am content in His merciful choice for my child’s future. “I shall go to him, but he shall not return to me.” (II Sam. 12:23) I rejoice not in the death of my child but in the salvation of his eternal soul. He is forever the Lord’s which also means that he is forever mine. I love you son (or daughter) and look forward to the day when we will bow our knees together before the throne of our great God.
