“One of the greatest privileges and advancements of believers, both in this world and unto eternity, consists in their beholding the glory of Christ.”
John Owen 1684 A.D.
Beholding the glory of Christ is not only a great privilege but it is also Christ’s own prayer for you. In John 17:24 Jesus prayed: "Father, I desire that they also whom You gave Me may be with Me where I am, that they may behold My glory which You have given Me; for You loved Me before the foundation of the world.” Jesus wants you to see Him for all that He is. Behold His truth, His love, His mercy, His majesty etc. Consider where you are right now, what you are doing. To read about Christ and learn of Him is an advantage that most people of the world have overlooked today. The very fact that you want to behold Christ and His glory puts you in one of the smallest minority groups in the world. It is a humbling thought to think that I stand with the few who wants Christ as our life when most wants Christ to be dead. I get to behold Him! Why me? What makes me any different from other sinners that Christ would choose me? When we praise Christ weather it is here or in glory to come there should be this overwhelming feeling that says: What am I doing here? I deserve Hell and yet here I am beholding the glory of Christ. This is grace and all who see it want to behold its giver. It is a privilege to have life, but it is a greater privilege to know the giver of that life. The greatest accomplishment man can make in life is to behold Christ and love what they see in Him.
